The secret garden
Crivina de Sus, Romania
Invited to participate as guest artist/tutor within the "International workshop around the wooden church" - a multi year program of revitalization of a rare example of Orthodox church in the region of Banat, promoted by the Association of Romanian Landscape Architects - I decided to involve the participants, mainly students from the Architecture Faculty of Timisoara, in a process of reactivating and caring for the land surrounding the church.
Situated in the rural village of Crivina and abandoned many years ago for use as landfill, the land was cleaned up and transformed into a safe and welcoming garden for all inhabitants, not only humans. Amid the generale surprise, the first to enter were indeed horses.
