Arte in Riserva, Eremo di San Venanzio, Raiano (AQ), Italy 2016 / environmental dimensions / polishing and engraving on stone
Starting from the relation between art, nature and space - meant as the resultant of landscape, territory and environment - the artist has identified the three main elements of the reserve: the stone, the water and the memory.
On this triad is founded the work that, through the stone’s abrasion and polish, metaphorically proposes again the ancient gesture that the devotees make in the Eremo di San Venanzio: the body’s rubbing on the stone in order to have benefits from the stone itself.
The engraving on the smooth part of the stone says “gutta cavat lapidem”, literally the waterdrop perforates the stone.
Through the Ovidio’s phrase the artist proposes a silent contact with the natural and socio-cultural context of this territory.
