A-Zone Creative and Cultural Center, Hualien, Taiwan 2016 / ø 230 cm / traditional hats, bamboo stripes
The work created by Giacomo Zaganelli in collaboration with Silvia Piantini at A-Zone in Hualien, focuses on the relation between time and space, speaking about historical memory and about the importance of knowing our traditions, without rejecting them, as basis of our everyday life. The choice of the typical hats 斗笠 – used mostly by farmers and fishermen - becomes the artists’s “language” to speak with locals, underlining the necessity of a dialogue between history and identity in a contemporary way, especially in such a location like the A zone (an old japanese vinery).
